11. AVOIDING TIME WASTERS - Japa Empowerment - Empowering Immigrants - Immigrant Empowerment - Jack Lookman - Rita Nnamani - Olayinka Carew - Empowerment And Inspiration - Nigerian Immigrants - Empowering And Inspiring Generations - Nijaa To United Kingdom - Jack Lookman Limited - Baba Londoner - Nijaa To London
In the UK, time is money, literally. Every hour counts, whether you're working, studying, building a business, or relaxing. However, many Nigerians who Japa find themselves surrounded by distractions that sap energy and provide nothing in return. Endless gossip calls, useless meetings, mindless scrolling, and repeated "urgent" demands from people back home all waste time. If you want to accomplish anything substantial abroad, you must become a gatekeeper of your time.
Start by setting clear priorities. What matters the most this week? A new certification, extra hours at work, learning to drive, or developing a side hustle? If it does not fit into your growth strategy, discontinue or postpone it. Stop devoting your best time to those who only remember you when they need assistance. In this country, being busy is not the same as being productive. Don’t confuse activity with progress.
You have to become intentional about your schedule. Wake up with a plan. Write down the top three things you must achieve before the day ends. Without this discipline, you’ll find yourself busy all day but with nothing to show. Time-wasters love the unprepared. If your day is open and undefined, anything or anyone can hijack it. Start protecting your focus like your life depends on it—because, it does.
Be aware of "energy vampires". People who call you to complain, discuss, or quarrel while you're trying to concentrate. Establish limits in a polite manner. You may respond with: "Let's talk on Saturday" or, "I'm busy now, I'll call back later." Time-wasters do not always appear to be foes; they may disguise themselves as friends or family. That is not to say you should shut people off; rather, you must regulate access.

Also, learn how to say no. Don't accept all invitations. Don't volunteer for everything. Don't feel bad about prioritising your personal development over someone else's acceptance. There is a time limit. Use it to create, rest, reflect, and improve. Those that win overseas are those who value their time as much as they do their money balances.
