28. AUDIT OF TRUE FRIENDS - redundancy empowerment - empowering redundant workers - empowering redundant staff - empowering redundant employees - making redundancy work for you - is redundancy a dead end? - is redundancy the end of the road? - making the most of redundancy - empowering the redundant worker - Jack Lookman - Rita Nnamani - Olayinka Carew - Jack Lookman Limited - Amebo - Ire o - Ire kabiti - Empowerment and Inspiration - Empowering And Inspiring Generations - Yinka Carew

An audit of true friends is less about condemning people and more about understanding who strengthens your journey while discreetly draining it. During redundancy, you will see shifts. Some friends will check in on you on a regular basis, not to gossip, but to genuinely enquire how you're doing. They'll offer support, leads, or simply be present. Others will become aloof or uneasy, unsure how to relate to you without the prestige or achievement that once defined your relationship.

This is where the emotional audit starts. Ask yourself who makes you feel valued and supported. These are the folks to keep close. They serve as your emotional foundation during the healing process. True friends won’t pressure you to “get over it” quickly. They understand that redundancy isn’t just financial loss — it’s an emotional transition. They’ll give you space when you need it and motivation when you’re ready. They’ll remind you of your strengths when you forget them.

It’s also important to reflect on how you show up for others. Friendship after redundancy isn’t a one-way street. Reach out when you can, even when you’re low. Sometimes supporting someone else reminds you of your own resilience.

This audit also extends to professional friends — the people in your network who become more than just contacts. Genuine professional friendships are built on respect, honesty, and mutual growth. Keep in touch with them. You might collaborate later or simply encourage one another through change.

At the same time, don’t take it personally if some relationships fade. Redundancy often rearranges your circle naturally. Some people can’t handle vulnerability or struggle because it mirrors their own fears. Others are seasonal companions, part of one chapter but not the next. Be grateful for what each relationship taught you, but invest your limited energy into those who lift you up. You’ll need that energy to rebuild your next chapter.

Thank you very much to all our readers. You are much appreciated.
