Nigerians who wish to travel to the UK frequently ask this question, "Is money the only measure of success?". The answer is straightforward: no. Although money is important in our lives, it shouldn't be the only tool used to measure success.
Submission, Gratitude, Faith and Hope
Many Nigerians are raised to believe that success is measured by how much wealth one has acquired; a large home, expensive car, and high salary are considered yardsticks of success. The urge to own those material items as soon as possible when they choose to "Japa” is inevitable. However, struck with the reality that experience and living overseas offer a different lesson.

There are several aspects to success. It includes inner serenity, meaningful connections, personal development, emotional well-being, and societal contribution. It is always very easy to identify one who lives a lavish lifestyle by how unhappy or stressed they look.

On the other hand, a successful person also leads a modest life and has peace of mind, strong family ties, and good health. Greed frequently results in fatigue or concessions in ethics or family life for recently emigrated individuals. Rather, concentrate on establishing comprehensive objectives—make an investment in your abilities, cultivate your relationships, help others when you can, and look after your physical and emotional well-being.
Moreover, various people have different definitions of success. Some people make money to assist their extended family back home, while others do it to further their education or improve their community. What should fuel your own success should be based on what fulfills you rather than what society expects you to achieve. Money is essential because it gives security and opens doors, but don't let it, however, define your entire sense of value or lead you to compromise your morals and values. Never forget that the best form of success is balance.
