Let us put the record straight: life abroad is not what most people back home imagine.  Nobody discusses the disclaimers.  The hustle here has a different face.  It's cold, lonely, and designed in a way that compels you to adapt or fail.  This is not to scare you, but to prepare you.  If you're considering or have already travelled to Japan, keep in mind that the UK does not owe you any comfort.  You must carve yourself your own area and earn every bit of steadiness.

The truth is that most individuals come here with dreams based on assumptions.  "Everything works."  "Money is easy."  "No stress."  However, they fail to mention the council tax, the rent that consumes half your wage, or the unseen restrictions at work. Nobody tells you that even getting a driving license here can take months and multiple tries. The system works, yes, but it works for those who learn it. If you don’t learn fast, it will leave you behind.

There is also the mental adjustment.  The sense of being a second-class citizen.  The urge to continuously demonstrate your worthiness.  Isolation that sneaks in gently.  Many Nigerians find themselves working in occupations they never imagined possible, not because they are lazy, but because survival does not wait for qualifications.  You might have been someone in Nigeria, but here, you're beginning from scratch.  That is the fact.  And this isn't a bad thing; it simply means you have to be strategic rather than emotive.

This is your warning label: the system doesn't care where you're coming from, only what you can offer.  So, do not bring entitlement into this setting.  Bring grit.  Bring talents.  Bring things into focus.  And bring humility. If you believe that your degree alone will save you, you are not prepared.  This environment will put your self-esteem, patience, and resilience to the test.  However, adapting will provide you with incomparable benefits.
