130. COULD YOU REAP WITHOUT SOWING? Some Nigerians who Japa have the dangerous notion that simply relocating abroad will guarantee prosperity. The idea is that once you get in the UK, pounds will flood into your account, chances will present themselves, and your life will automatically improve. But the truth is that no one reaps without sowing. Even in the United Kingdom, seeds must be planted before they may be harvested. These seeds take the form of hard work, discipline, and steady progress.
Your initial seeding involves work. Hard work is not an option here. It is a must. The system may provide stability, but it will not hand you prosperity. You must establish yourself in your career, business, and connections. If you sow sloth, you will get frustrated. If you sow discipline, you will reap progress. Nothing in the UK falls into your lap. You earn it, step by step.
Another type of seeding is patience. Many Nigerians strive to compete with others, hoping to get a home, a car, or the ideal lifestyle within their first few years. That strain causes debts and disappointments. If you are patient and consistent in your efforts, your rewards will come in due course. The United Kingdom respects consistency. Small, consistent sowing frequently yields a larger harvest than rushing for spectacular, short-term gains.

Knowledge is also a seed. You cannot benefit from opportunities that you do not understand. Many Nigerians disregard free or low-cost courses, skill development, and financial education while expecting to live a better life. The UK is full of doors, but knowledge is the key to unlocking them.
The principle remains the same everywhere, whether in Nigeria, UK, or anywhere else. Life only gives back what you put in. Japa does not change that. So, if you truly want to reap abroad, you must sow wisely. Work hard, build skills, manage money, invest in relationships, and stay consistent. Only then will you harvest a life that makes Japa worthwhile.
